SIOUX CITY, IA -
These days When you hop into your car and notice the gauge is almost on empty, it's going to be an expensive day.
You've probably noticed the price of gas is on the rise again, on average it costs around 40 more cents a gallon to fill up your car than it did a year ago.
Its been this way for years, it seems like every time you go to the gas station you pay more and more to fill up, and it doesn't look like gas is getting any cheaper.
According to "Triple A" the average price for regular unleaded in Iowa is $3.47 a gallon, that's ten cents cheaper than the rest of the country.
It's still not as high as it was back in July '08 when the national average got up to $4.11 a gallon for regular unleaded, and the way things are going gas could get more expensive than that.
Energy economists say in the short term the price of gas has more to do with world events than anything else.
"The reality is there is not a quick domestic fix," says economic researcher and author Daniel Yergin. "It's really what happens in the world market and in this rising situation with Iran that will determine it."
At least we can still shop around for the best price.
