SIOUX CITY - In honor of President's Day, students at Lincoln Elementary received the opportunity to learn more about their favorite president.

Third and fourth grade students celebrated President's Day by stepping into the shoes of their favorite president.

They were given the task of researching and reporting on any one of the forty–four presidents before showcasing their work to the Lincoln student body.

Henry Wagner chose Thomas Jefferson.

"He was the third president, he served from 1801–1809, he founded the University of Virginia and he sort of made up the Republican and Democrat thing," he said.

Student Katie Mahnke chose her president, Ulysses S. Grant, based on more personal ties.

He's like my grandpa, on my moms side," she said.

Whatever the reason for their choices, the students enjoyed the opportunity get to know these famous figures in American history.
