
A 6 month old infant is dead and police are working to find out why.
The Bronson, Iowa, baby died on Saturday, January 21st, and his death stems from a serious injury.
According to the Sioux City Police Department, parents dropped the infant off at an in-home day care at 4561 Meadow Lane in Sioux City Thursday morning, January 19th.
Less than an hour later, at 8:30 that morning, the day care-taker called 911, reporting that the child wasn't breathing.
The baby was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City where his condition was stabilized.
The infant was then transported to Children's Health in Omaha, where he passed away Saturday, January 21st.
Police working this case say these types of investigations are always hard.
"It's difficult on all our officers," says Lt. Mark Kirkpatrick with the Sioux City Police Department. "There's a great dealing of loss and tragedy in something like this."
The case is still under investigation.
Right now, Sioux City police are waiting for the results of an autopsy that was performed Monday, January 23rd.
