(LYON COUNTY, IA) - Lyon County, IA sent its application for a new casino to Des Moines, Monday. The company pushing the new resort wants to build a $110 million operation near the South Dakota border. Developers say the project could employ nearly 800 people, and bring $15 million in tax revenue to Iowa.
Five counties across the state are actively looking at new casinos. The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission agreed to look at new license applications earlier this year.
If the Lyon County application is approved, developers plan to open their resort in 2011.
