Another Warrant Issued in Guerrero Death

Posted:

(DAKOTA CITY, NE) A major new development in the 1997 murder case of Joaquin Guerrero. While a jury considers the fate of Andrew Orellana, a first degree murder warrant is issued for a different suspect in the same case.

The warrant was issued June 24th, for 31-year-old Jesus Armando Guerra.

This information surfaces while a jury of 12 has not yet reached a verdict in the trial of Andrew Orellana for the same case. The state says Orellana was the shooter.

Orellana was arrested in May 2009. About six weeks later, after he was already in jail but before his trial began, Dakota County issued a warrant for first degree murder for Guerra.

As for Orellana, the jury began deliberating his case just before noon Friday. They did not reach a verdict by 6:00 PM and went home for the weekend. They will resume deliberations Tuesday at 9:00 AM.

Orellana remains in the Dakota County Jail.
