Onawa's First Annual Job Fair

Posted:

(ONAWA, IA) The small community of Onawa, Iowa is celebrating its sesquicentennial this year and on Thursday, for the first time in 150 years, the Chamber of Commerce hosted a job fair. While only about 3,100 people live in Onawa, younger people have started moving back to the community and local employers are looking to hire. About 11 businesses set up shop inside the Onawa Public Library for the job fair. Employers want to hire local and keep people in Onawa.

"We have the amenities that we need here. We just need some people to stay here and enjoy it," says Ann Crawford, Onawa Chamber of Commerce.

Besides picking up job applications, people could also stop by the Iowa State Extension booth to learn about how to manage tough times.
